I help lawyers seeking more meaning and fulfillment discover their true gifts and soul-level purpose

I’m Jessie Brown, career Coach & purpose guide for Lawyers

I help soul-starved lawyers reconnect with and courageously follow the wisdom of their mind, body, and soul. Having gone on this journey myself and helped many lawyers do the same, I know the terrain.

Whether I'm serving as a coach or purpose guide, I use an approach that combines deep inner work, Internal Family Systems ("parts work"), depth psychology, spirituality, conscious goal setting, and supportive accountability. I've completed numerous coach training programs, and I'm a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.

What if I told you that you have an inner compass that can guide you to your most fulfilling career?

you have everything you need inside of you

The pivotal moment that led to my career change.

Turning the age my mom was when she was diagnosed with the cancer that took her life was a wake-up call for me. I realized I could get a life-altering diagnosis at any time.

I was no longer willing to chase a version of success that didn't feel true to who I was. I was no longer willing to settle for less than a career and life I loved.

I began the process of reconnecting with my inner compass and aligning my career, relationships, and life with my authentic self. And now I help lawyers do the same.

I chose law for practical reasons. My parents died when I was in college, and I had no safety net. My sole concern became financial security. I ignored my soul's longings to do creative work that inspired me and chose Big Law.

I began as a litigator, which was never a great fit. I went in and out of burnout, often stressed, anxious, and overwhelmed, especially when my kids were young. In my last years of practice, I tried estate planning and then representing hospices, which were a better fit. Over the years, I learned to manage my time and workload, set boundaries, and create balance. I managed stress through exercise and meditation.

But the best I ever felt while practicing law was "fine." And I wanted more.

We spend most of our waking hours working. I was no longer willing to settle for a soul-starved, frazzled existence.

I also felt law didn't allow me to fully use my strengths or have the quality of life I wanted. I longed to use my gifts to help others in a meaningful way while deepening my connection with my soul, the natural world, and other people.

A lawyer origin story

When changing practice areas and reducing my billable hours as a Senior Counsel in Big Law didn't create the career alignment I wanted, I invested in a coach.

Through coaching, I reconnected with my inner compass, gained clarity on what I wanted, and began making choices to bring that vision into reality.

For me, this was a profound journey of self-discovery and inner healing that transformed all areas of my life including my work, marriage, friendships, and health.

A coaching session with Jessie feels like an opportunity to talk to your best friend who isn't afraid to push you!

Sarah, Big Law Senior Associate

A coaching session with Jessie feels like an opportunity to talk to your best friend who isn't afraid to push you to think about what you really want in life–for you, for your family, for your career. She asks direct questions and gives space for you to be transparent about what is working and what isn’t, without any judgment.
For me personally, talking with Jessie was the catalyst for me to sit down and ask myself honestly what sort of salary I would be able to live on comfortably. After making a detailed budget, I realized that I had more options than I felt like I had. There is something beautiful about having the opportunity to work with someone who knows the demands of big law but who will encourage (challenge?) you to be most true to yourself.
